A good start in Kirchdorf: Students help flood victims
Kirchdorf an der Krems. The elementary school Kirchdorf has now settled in well after its move and the anticipation for Christmas is accompanied by a significant purpose. This year, the students collect donations for the victims of the flood disaster, which took place in September.
The merger of the two elementary schools in Kirchdorf has now been completed, and director Christine Kerschbaummayr reports that the students have now got used to their new classes and rooms. "It took a while until the children all arrived in everyday school life," she explains. However, she sees urgent need for action in relation to the school buildings itself: "The house is really at the end." A renovation is urgently needed to improve the learning environment for the children.
fundraising for flood victims
Currently, teachers and students are actively involved in working on the upcoming Christmas preparations. A special fundraiser will run by the end of November to help the victims of the flood. The terrible pictures and stories of this natural disaster have left a lasting impression among the students. "We explained to you how important it is to show solidarity in such difficult times and not be let down," reports Kerschbaummayr.
The children are encouraged to consider how much they are willing to hand over from their own pocket money. This initiative not only promotes responsibility, but also actively integrates the students into an important apprenticeship about helpfulness and social responsibility. By working for your peers in need, you will experience that you can do great things through small action.
Christmas time becomes a special opportunity to not only receive gifts, but also to give and show joy that the community holds together, especially in difficult times.
