Sustainable agricultural education center in Waizenkirchen is taking shape

The construction of the new agricultural education center (ABZ) in Waizenkirchen is progressing quickly. The project, which is planned using ecologically sustainable wood-hybrid construction, will be realized with a total budget of 41.3 million euros. The shell has already been completed and the first work on the interior has begun. According to Agriculture Regional Councilor Michaela Langer-Weninger (ÖVP), all steps are following schedule. The aim is to complete the interior work by the end of 2025, which will include modern classrooms, workshops and a boarding school with 153 beds.

The agricultural education center is divided into three central areas: the boarding school wing, the school wing and the workshop wing. What is particularly noteworthy is that the ground floor is made of reinforced concrete, while the upper floors, which house the classrooms and the boarding school, are built using sustainable timber construction. An additional focus is on a new local heating building that is intended to make the energy supply efficient. This sustainable concept distinguishes the ABZ as a pioneer in environmentally friendly construction.

Important voices on the project

Governor Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP) emphasizes the importance of agricultural schools in the region. "Our schools are down-to-earth, successful and unique. They offer education for life. In order to continue this success, it is important to constantly develop further. Contemporary education also requires modern conditions," he explained in a statement. This project is not only an infrastructural advance, but also an important step for future agricultural training.

The use of innovative technologies and sustainable construction methods not only reduces the ecological footprint, but also creates a learning environment that optimally prepares future generations for the challenges of agriculture. If you follow the development of the ABZ, it is clear that those responsible attach great importance to functionality and environmentally conscious solutions in order to offer the learners there the best opportunities.

All of this is done in accordance with the latest findings and requirements in the educational landscape, which are also based on the changes in agriculture and forestry. The agricultural education center in Waizenkirchen will therefore make a decisive contribution to the training of young people in one of the oldest professions in our society and at the same time assume ecological responsibility.
