Eichgraben celebrates human rights: set a sign with fair chocolate!

Eichgraben, Österreich - on December 10th, the day of human rights, the Fairtrade working group Eichgraben recalled the important importance of fair trade practices. In front of the Eichgraben-Altlengbach train station, chocolate tablets were distributed to draw attention to the situation of cocoa farmers. Eichgraben has been a Fairtrade community since 2005 that campaigns for better working conditions for farmers in the global south. Many small farmer families that grow cocoa often do not earn enough for a decent life. "Now in the run-up to Christmas, it is particularly important to eat and give away fair chocolate," said Fairtrade ambassador Cecilia Thuner.

A Highlight of the campaign is the new delivery of the Eichgraben community chocolate, which is available in the local citizen service for 5.40 euros. This delicious chocolate with the typical Elsbeer taste is manufactured by the confectioner Martin Mayer in Meggenhofen in the Grieskirchen district and relies on regional and fair production. This initiative not only raises awareness of human rights, but also promotes the local economy. Also this year the chocolate reaches many hearts and palates in Eichgraben, such as meinbezirk.at

Fairtrade and human rights combined

The distribution of chocolate was not only understood as a culinary experience, but also as a symbol of social justice. The Fairtrade working group would like to set a clear sign and encourage the population to make conscious purchase decisions. The chocolate is advertised as a luxury food that also has a positive impact on the life of cocoa farmers in developing countries. Noen reported that the focus is also on the pleasure of Fairtrade products is also linked to personal responsibility.
