Tragwein shines for the 1st Mühlviertler Open: 23 medals for the club!
Last weekend the first edition of the Mühlviertler Open took place in Taekwondo in Tragwein. It was not just a competition, but an impressive event that put the skills of the athletes to the test and put the Wagwein association back into the spotlight.
The Tragweiner athletes have proven to be the best of the tournament and took first place in the club ranking with a total of 23 gold, five silver and seven bronze medals. This outstanding result underlines the importance of the Taekwondo Association Tragwein in the Austrian Poomsae scene and shows the high level of performance of the athletes.
innovative competition format
A particularly exciting element of the tournament was the introduction of a new competition format. Instead of the usual individual starts, the athletes competed against each other in knockout mode. In the performance category 1, which is accessible from the red belt, two athletes show their skills at the same time. This new format not only brings a fresh wind into the competition, but also represents a real challenge for the judges and participants. Although this system is rarely used internationally, the upcoming World Cup in Hong Kong will be officially used for the first time at a large tournament. The organizers of Tragwein were satisfied: "The more proud we are that the premiere in Tragwein went smoothly."
Another highlight of the event was the so -called "Golden Girls" made of tragwein. The Taekwondo fighters Sylvia Gringer, Sabine Rossgatterer and Renate Tischberger, all of whom are over 50 years old, proved that sporting performance and passion do not know any age limits. They dominated their classes confidently and serve as an inspiring example of the younger generation of Taekwondo coaches.
The tournament was only successful thanks to the support of numerous sponsors. A big thank you goes to the Pizzeria Bella Casa, ST-Service Stefan Trichlin, Kfz-Schmiede GmbH, Hasenöhrl GmbH as well as the main sponsors Linz AG and Raiffeisenbank Aist, without which such significant events would not be possible.
Overall, the debut of the Mühlviertler Open in Tragwein not only inspired the athletes, but also captivated the spectators. It remains exciting to observe how the event will develop in the coming years and what successes the Tragwein athletes can still achieve.
