In the picturesque town of St. Peter near Waldburg, there is a charming holiday home that not only promises peace and relaxation, but also tells a fascinating story. The building with the number 30 looks back on a long history that extends until before the First World War. At first the property was owned by the St. Peter brewery and later housed a dishwashing factory, which was finally converted into a ceramic manufacturer. This factory was led by Herbert Reikerstorfer's ancestors and his now deceased wife. Despite the challenges of the Second World War, ceramic art was produced there until 1959. Today a permanent exhibition in the Mühlviertel Castle Museum in Freistadt is reminiscent of this artistic era.

Herbert Reikerstorfer, who lives in the house with his daughter Claudia, tells of the changes that time brought with it. "The plastic came up and the taste of the people changed," he explains. This contributed to the fact that ceramic production was finally discontinued. "The owners were older and did not want to invest in modern productions," he continues. Despite the closure of the manufactory, the Reikerstorfer family preserves numerous memorabilia that testify to the creative past.

In 1975, the family decided to rent a former apartment on the property as a holiday home. "We wanted it to be inhabited," added Claudia. The cozy accommodation offers your guests an inviting ambience with bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and various quiet retreats and a garden. "In the beginning we mainly had families with children, now it is mainly people from the city who are looking for peace," notes Claudia.

"If we humans have here with us, then they are almost a bit of our family during this time."

The family atmosphere and the natural landscape of the region attract many regular guests. An impressive view of the district capital Freistadt also ensures relaxation and calm. "A musician from Duisburg comes for four weeks every summer because she longs for calm," report the Reikerstorfers. There are also loyal guests from Wiesbaden who can no longer travel because of their age but have been with them more than ten times. "Our guests come mainly from Germany and Austria, but have already had French and Spaniards with us," emphasizes Herbert.
