Allhaming: New logistics center sets standards in Austria!

In allhaming Upper Austrian, Austrian Post has inaugurated an impressive power plant of logistics. After one and a half years of construction, the extended package distribution center was opened today, which is now the largest of its kind in Austria with around 50,000 sqm. The extension, which is equipped with a total investment volume of around 80 million euros, causes the sorting output to increase to astonishing 30,500 packages per hour. This enables up to 330,000 packages to be processed daily during the top season, as blogistic.net . The location now houses around 900 employees: inside and also created 200 new jobs, which should boost the local economy.

gripping Christmas business and international challenges

With the upcoming Christmas business, the post expects an increase in daily package processing to up to 400,000 pieces. This is a huge logistical challenge, especially in view of the delays in the delivery of goods that were ordered on Chinese cheap platforms. "The delivery works, a bit delayed at the moment. The reason for this is a lack of freight capacities in the flight area," said the head of the distribution center, as orf.at reported. The probability that these packages will arrive in good time before Christmas is therefore extremely low.

The new logistics center is not only celebrated as an efficiency and sustainability show project, but also ensures better coordination in parcel traffic, especially when importing and export quantities. The connection of the location for trucks is optimized through comprehensive traffic measures for which the post office invested around three million euros in cooperation with the state of Upper Austria and the municipality of Allhaming. These new infrastructural adjustments are intended to significantly increase the safety and liquid of traffic and thus guarantee a smooth process in busy parcel traffic during the high season.
