Norbert Walter: unanimously elected the new Vice President of LK Austria!
Wien, Österreich - On April 29, 2025, Norbert Walter was unanimously elected Vice President of the Austria Chamber of Agriculture (LKÖ). He follows Franz Titschenbacher, who has withdrawn from his chamber functions. Walter is thus strengthening the Presidium of the LKÖ, President Josef Moosbrugger, Federal Funeral Irene Neumann-Hartberger and LK Lower Austria President Johannes Schmuckenschlager. Moosbrugger describes Walter as a competent and committed representative of agriculture and forestry as well as as a passionate winegrower. Walter brings a broad experience in various functions of agriculture.
born in 1968 in Tyrol, studied Walter at the University of Natural Resources and Development and completed a university course for PR in Vienna. He has been working in Raiffeisenbank Lower Austria since 2001. He began his political career in 1997 as a speaker in the ÖVP club, followed by various positions, including that of the state manager of the ÖVP Vienna from 2002 and that of a member of the Vienna and the municipal council. From 2012 to 2021 he was director of the Vienna Farmers' Association and has been the state hunter of Vienna since 2016. He has been President of the Vienna Chamber of Agriculture since April 19, 2023, which underlines the range of his commitment.
commitment in agriculture
For example,Norbert Walter was also Vice President of the Vienna Chamber of Agriculture and has been chairman of the Vienna Farmers' Association since 2021. Josef Moosbrugger, President of LK Austria, congratulated him on his choice and at the same time thanked his predecessor Franz Windisch, who campaigned for the Viennese urban agriculture over a long period of time.
Walter's election should have a positive impact on the further development of agriculture in Austria. Agriculture in Austria is increasingly shaped by rural family businesses that act both entrepreneurially and ecological. Strengthening entrepreneurship is necessary to generate value creation and sustainable services for society. The connection between tradition and modernity is essential for farmers.
The future of agriculture
The challenges of contemporary agriculture are complex. According to a strategy for agricultural quality, the Austrian quality strategy must be further developed. The increasing demand for quality products plays a central role here. Transparent labels make it easier for consumers: inside, to recognize the added value of the products, which also improves the competitiveness of the rural family businesses.
Another important aspect are measures for climate and environmental protection. Climate change requires adjustments and innovative approaches in agriculture. The union of biological diversity, climate protection and the protection of natural resources will become more important in the future. Here, the value of ecosystem services is increasingly regarded as a criterion for sustainable businesses.
The development of alternative sources of income, as well as the use of digitization and innovation are viewed as central elements to increase quality of life and added value in agriculture and forestry. Walter will play a key role in addressing these challenges and promoting the dialogue between society and agriculture to create a trusting relationship.
The election of Norbert Walter as Vice President of the LKÖ is not only a personal success, but also a signal for the future of Austrian agriculture, which will adapt to further developments and challenges.
