Lower Austria Financial Fill: 153 Students: Inside on the way to money competence!

The "Lower Austria Finance Driver", a project by the Lower Austria Chamber of Lower Austria in cooperation with the state of Lower Austria, has established itself as an important initiative to promote financial education for young people. Last year, this program was successfully implemented at several polytechnic schools to convey practical knowledge of the students for a responsible handling of money.

On June 3, 2025, 153 students will be awarded for their successfully completed training inside of ten polytechnic schools in St. Pölten. The certificate ceremony takes place at 11:15 a.m. in the employee: Inner center in St. Pölten. The guests of honor of this festive event include Angela Fischer, Vice President of AK Lower Austria, as well as the State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister and Eva Prischl.

practical financial education

The Lower Austria Financial Feil focuses on practical modules that convey crucial skills in dealing with money. In particular, the focus is on supporting students in budget planning, saving and the correct installation of money. In view of the increasing cost of living and the challenges that affect young people in particular, the need for early financial education becomes clear. State of Lower Austria promotes this cooperation to strengthen financial education.

Markus Wieser, President of AK Lower Austria, emphasizes how important it is to prepare young people for dealing with their first income. State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister emphasizes the relevance of practical education and the mediation of vital skills to enable a self-determined lifestyle.

challenges for young people

The challenges that young people face in today's financial environment are diverse. Over 30 percent of the clients of the debt counseling in Lower Austria are under 35 years old, with six percent even under 25 years old. In this context, 1200 clients were over -indebted at a young age and needed outside help. The Lower Austrian Financial Fill is the goal of offering young people and young adults a basic training in financial matters so that they can successfully design their money life.

In addition to the topics of the financing license, there are other teaching materials that address the savings behavior of young people. For example, worksheets convey why saving is important and how to implement this effectively. The worksheet "For wishes, emergencies or age - why and how we save" is aimed at secondary school students and encourages reflection on their own savings behavior. Explanations on the savings rate and various forms of investment are also discussed, which promotes understanding of financial decisions. A complementary explanation video on the topic "What is over -indebtedness?" can be used to deepen the topic.

Overall, the commitment of the Lower Austrian financial driver's license shows how important it is to investigate young people financially and to support them to manage their finances sustainably and make responsibility decisions.
