Waldviertel volleyball heroicism: Despite defeat against Hypo Tyrol
In the first home game of the season, the Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel had the opportunity to compete against the Austrian record champion Hypo Tirol volleyball team. The encounter took place in the Zwettler Halle and offered the audience an exciting game full of drama and passionate moments.
The Tyroleans, who are under the new coach Lorenzo Tubertini and are about to appear in the Champions League against the Dutch champion Orion Doetinchem, performed strongly at the beginning of the encounter. On the first match day of the Austrian volleyball league, they had already won a clear 3-0 win against the VBK Wörther-Seee lion. Waldviertel, on the other hand, managed to fight for a point against Aich/DOB, which screwed up expectations of the game.
nervous start and upswing
The match started nervously for the hosts and the Tyroleans took advantage of this to quickly gain a clear lead. The weak acceptance of the Waldviertler and the lack of pressure on the surcharge meant that the Tyroleans won the first set significantly with 16:25. But in the second set, the sheet changed: driven by the enthusiastic audience and the wit of Niklas Etlinger, the Nordmänner managed to work out a lead and win the second set with 25:23. This unexpected set win provided great enthusiasm in the hall and gave the team new energy.
The new regulation, which provides for a ten -minute break between the second and the third sentence, was used by the Waldviertlers to conduct an exchange with their sponsor, Mr. Ing. Thomas Berger, who presented current projects. This interruption seemed to give the team the opportunity to focus again. But in the third set, Hypo Tirol again gained control by dominating a more stable block and sideout game, which secured the set win with 17:25.
gratifying performance despite defeat
Although the Waldviertler gave everything in the fourth set, the routine and experience of the Tyroleans had the decisive plus on their side. With a final score of 22:25 in the last sentence, the guests won the game 3-1. Despite the defeat, the players and coaches Miroslav Palgut were optimistic about their performance. Palgut praised his team's fighting spirit and emphasized that they could learn a lot from this game.
The final score of the encounter was Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel vs. Hypo Tirol Volleyball team 1: 3 (16:25, 25:23, 17:25, 22:25). This was another exciting chapter in the new season of the Austrian volleyball league, in which the Nordmänner are now willing to return more from their experiences.
