Ronja Robber's daughter: Courageous children overcome hostilities in the state theater
The magical world of children's literature enters the stages of Lower Austria with a new staging by Astrid Lindgren's "Ronja Robber's Daughter". The timeless classic tells of the brave Ronja, who grows up in an old castle in the Mattiswald and ties an inseparable friendship with Birk, the son of an enemy robber captain. In the midst of adventures and mystical creatures, the two children learn that the hostilities of adults do not have to apply to them.
under the direction of Felix Metzner, who already celebrated great success with the "Emil and the Detectives" last year, the piece is not only accompanied with impressive music, but also conveys valuable messages about friendship and courage. These topics are more relevant than ever today, since children have to learn to make their own decisions and build bridges between hostile camps.
The actors and performances
Marthe Lola Deutschmann, a member of the State Theater in Lower Austria since the 2019/20 season, embodies the main character Ronja. Talented actors such as Lara Horvath, Sven Kaschte and Jakob Merkle play on their side. The premiere of "Ronja Robber's Daughter" takes place in the Landestheater Lower Austria, where the play will be shown by April 2025.
A special highlight is the trial workshop, which will be offered on January 25th for children from the age of eight. Here the young spectators have the opportunity to look behind the scenes and actively immerse themselves in the world of Ronja and Birk. In addition, guest performances on the Baden stage and in the Stadttheater Wiener Neustadt are planned, which increases the reach of this enchanting story.
The staging not only promises a visual spectacle, but also a deeper message about the power of friendship and the courage to rebel against social differences. This positive request to reconcile rivalries runs through the entire story and will appeal to both young and old.
A detailed view of the staging shows how Ronja and Birk have to deal with the challenges of their world. In particular, the jump over the "hell of hell" not only symbolizes a physical, but also an emotional overcoming of conflicts and fears that many can understand on their own way of life.
