Citizens: Interior demands stop of the east bypass - the future of traffic in danger!
In the late afternoon of November 23, around a hundred people gathered in a peaceful protest with lanterns to demonstrate against the controversial eastern bypass. This well -attended event continues the long -term resistance of the community against the infrastructure project, which is considered a threat to the environment.
The clearing of the Natura 2000 protection area of Fischa Au is particularly controversial, where a construction road was recently built. The demonstrators ask those responsible to invest in future -oriented traffic solutions and to protect valuable agricultural areas.
demands of the residents
Michaela Daniel, a affecteder, was concerned about the consequences of the planned street: “It is an absolute tragedy of how ruthlessly dealing with our livelihood. Not only do my children have to grow up with a new traffic hell in front of the nose, but nutritional safety for the next generation seems to be completely irrelevant.”
Irene Nemeth from the platform "Reason instead of eastern bypass" brought up another critical point: "The state budget is needed much more urgently for coping with the flood disaster. Nevertheless, Governor Mikl-Leitner continues to hold on to a project.
legal disputes
A central point of dispute is the expropriation of six landowners whose fields are affected for road construction. Last week a complaint was submitted to the Administrative Court, which is supposed to contest the legal status of the expropriations. A participant in the chain of lights, Christine Nenning, made it clear the problem: “The farmers took care of the country for decades! Apparently the fields in the ÖVP/FPÖ-led state of Lower Austria only count as reserve land for roads and parking spaces.”
The administration and the measures to the eastern bypass are not only a symbol of resistance to the annihilation of habitat, but also an expression of the dissatisfaction of many citizens about the priorities of the state government.
