Zero Project: Opportunities for people with disabilities on the labor market

n OCH always there is a lack of inclusion for people with disabilities in many companies. The fourth Zero Project company dialogue in St. Pölten aims to raise awareness of the employment of this group of people. "Employing people with disabilities is not an act of charity, but an economically and socially worthwhile decision," explains co-organizer Martin Essl.

In Austria, only about 25 percent of companies work with people with disabilities. Although the law stipulates that companies have to offer this employment at least, it often fails due to the practical implementation. The needs of people with disabilities are not sufficiently taken into account in many places. Last October, around 2,580 people with disabilities at the AMS Lower Austria were registered as unemployed, which underlines the urgency of a dialogue about integration into the labor market.

Numerous representatives from different areas came together in the dialogue, including State Councilor Susanne Rosenkranz and Member of the Member Florian Krumböck. The aim was to develop concrete ideas and approaches to improve the labor market situation for people with disabilities. The organizers, including Mag People and Arbeit GmbH in cooperation with the ESSL Foundation, want to build a network that supports and motivated to act in inclusive.

Essl and other participants emphasized the importance of reducing prejudices and showing that people with disabilities are valuable employees. "It's not just about following laws, but also about creating a supportive environment," adds Essl.

This initiative is not only a step towards social responsibility, but also an opportunity for companies to benefit from a diversified workforce. The employment of people with disabilities can bring fresh perspectives and skills into the work process, which enables innovative strength and efficiency to increase.
