New indoor pool in Waidhofen opened: modern, barrier -free and for everyone

The Waidhofner indoor pool opened its doors to the public on November 5 after it has been extensively renovated. The official opening took place on Wednesday, November 13th. The project, which was realized with a total budget of 3.6 million euros, was financed by the school community, which comprises all communities, the students in Waidhofen, and the state of Lower Austria.

The renovation work included many important aspects. The old stainless steel pool was completely renewed, the water technology was modernized and the glass facade and the roof will now shine in new splendor. An important point was the creation of a barrier -free access, supplemented by the necessary changing rooms, showers and toilets.

The renovation of the indoor pool is not only important for the leisure of the Waidhofner. From now on, the 750 pupils from elementary school, middle school, high school, polytechnic school and general special school can hold their swimming lessons again in the redesigned bathroom. It is particularly commendable that the new opening times now better take into account the needs of the population. The swimming offer in Waidhofen has been significantly expanded and now also includes special early swimming times for early risers.

The school community chairwoman, Marlene Böhm-Lauter, was quite proud at the opening, because the indoor pool was completely renovated within just seven months. "It is really impressive what was implemented in this short time. From planning to execution, everyone involved did outstanding work," she said.
