Electional massel in Lower Austria: contesting and scandal!

In Lower Austria, controversy developments are emerging in the municipal elections, which result in challenges for the election results for six municipalities. In Klosterneuburg in particular, the parties FPÖ and SPÖ have become active and have each submitted challenges. The deadline for these submissions ended today. On March 10, the state electoral authority will decide whether these contestation will be granted, which could result in new counts or even new elections, such as OE24 reported.

A reason for the contestation in Klosterneuburg is a scandal around a nursing home in which ballot gymnasts were brought into the patient room. This could have led to manipulation of the election results. In Gablitz, irregularities were also found, which are again contested by a citizen list. In the blind market, a citizen list calls for the new counting of the votes after the move into the local council was only missed by a vote. There were also reports on the lack of election proposals in Marchegg and inadmissible election advertising in St. Veit an der Gölsen, such as noe.orf.at reported.

The upcoming decisions of the state election authority could have far -reaching consequences. If one of the applications is approved, this could lead to significant changes in the political landscape of the municipalities concerned. At the same time, the challengers have the opportunity to move to the Constitutional Court if their applications are rejected.
