According to reports by Geosphere Austria, the sun was only seen in the sky for 45 hours - compared to the usual 61 hours. With this low sunshine duration, stubborn fog fields dominate the weather. It is even more worrying that the precipitation remained below the average of 1991 to 2021. On January 28, the temperature reached a maximum value at 15.5 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature on January 14th was at frosty -5.7 degrees.

The people in St. Pölten only experienced two days with snow cover. Hans Ressl from Geosphere Austria explains: "It was very mild, which was among other things due to the influence of high pressure and high fog." Despite the dark weather conditions, there was also hope for longer days, because the length of the day varied in January. So the daylight time rose from January 1st and 44 minutes to 9 hours on the last day of the month.
