Lower Austria-Card: Over 1.5 million excursions in record season!
The Lower Austria Card celebrates an impressive 20th anniversary and begins its new excursion season under the motto "Every day an experience". At a press conference in St. Pölten, Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and other official representatives have presented the successes of the past two decades. With over 2.3 million cards sold and more than 20 million previous excursions, the card has become the most successful leisure ticket in Austria. Mikl-Leitner emphasized the grown number of excursion destinations offered, which originally increased from 151 to 365, including 19 new highlights such as the St. Pölten children's art laboratory and the Nitsch Museum in the Weinviertel. The card holder can therefore look forward to a variety of activities that make it possible to use a complete excursion catalog in one year.
record numbers and growing popularity
The figures for the previous season show the unbroken interest in the Lower Austria card: over 1.56 million excursions and a sales record of 240,000 cards for 2024 were a powerful success. Add that the excursions rose by around 19 percent compared to the previous season. According to Mikl-Leitner, the Lower Austria card not only attracts excursion guests, but also has the potential to transform them into overnight guests-almost 30 percent of card users extend their visit with an overnight stay. Managing Director Michael Duscher emphasized the role of the Card as the most important engine in regional tourism.
With the sustainable variety of goals offered, from adventure gardens to museums to mountain railways, the expansion of the Lower Austria-Card will not only raise leisure activities, but also the economic development of tourism. The growing digitization - with over 130,000 users of the app - shows that the card not only is aimed at a wide audience, but also remains at the pulse of time. The entire offer makes Lower Austria an attractive goal for locals and tourists and thus ensures a blooming future for the region, in line with the tourism strategy.
