New faces in the National Council: The MPs of the St. Pölten region

In the St. Pölten region, significant personnel changes are imminent. From the next legislative period, four MPs will be represented in the National Council: Harald Servus from Herzogenburg, Robert Laimer from St. Pölten, Elisabeth Götze from Eichgraben and Süleyman Zorba from Traismauer. Herbert Kickl from the FPÖ, who lives in Purkersdorf, will also be part of the National Council. In contrast, important MPs such as Bettina Rausch and Fritz Ofenauer from the ÖVP will no longer be there.

These new elections have changed the political landscape considerably and raise questions about future government formation. Robert Laimer, who is moving into parliament for the third time, expressed hope that a new government could be installed by Christmas. However, he emphasizes that the future government faces huge challenges, in particular on the basis of an uncovered financing hole. Laimer urgently demands investments in health, care and security.

new faces in the National Council

New in the National Council is also Harald Servus from the ÖVP, who is competing with his mandate as the state-top candidate of the Economic Association. It places great importance on a stable government and emphasizes the need for tax cuts and investment incentives. "There are enough challenges that the government will have to tackle over the next five years," said Servus. The state's financial situation is tense, but it must be invested in the future.

The Greens are also strongly represented, come from both MPs from Lower Austria: Elisabeth Götze, former mayor of Eichgraben, begins her second legislative period. She said that a future government should not work with Herbert Kickl from the FPÖ. Götze emphasizes the importance of maintaining the course on climate neutrality and taking measures against child poverty.

Süleyman Zorba will also move into the National Council again. He criticized the FPÖ for their refusal to answer complex questions and plans to convince even more people of the vision of the Greens. Both members of the Greens are optimistic about the upcoming government formation, but they reject a partnership with the FPÖ.

The perspectives of the mayor

The mayors from the region also have clear positions on the current situation. The ÖVP mayor of Neulengbach, Jürgen Rummel, expresses concerns about sustainable government formation, especially in view of the unstable relationships between the parties. "No party wants to work with Kickl," says Rummel skeptically.

Michael Göschelbauer, Mayor of Altlengbach, sees the FPÖ as the strongest party in the responsibility and demands that Herbert Kickl should prove what he can do before starting with rule. He emphasizes that the ÖVP must draw the right conclusions from the election result in order to preserve the national identity without being intolerant.

Fritz Ofenauer, Mayor of Markersdorf-Haindorf, expects a difficult negotiation procedure in which the People's Party must have the strongest seat-in this case that of Kickl. However, he adds that an open discussion between all parties is necessary to find different solutions.

Matthias Stadler, the mayor of St. Pölten and district chairman of the SPÖ, underlines the need for the party to be the strongest party to receive the government mandate. At the same time, he warns of the challenges that will bring the next legislative period, especially with regard to the empty state coffers and the need for additional funds for cities and municipalities.

The choice has not only drawn a new face in national politics, but also raised many questions about future orientation and the necessary political measures that will affect the region and the country. For more detailed information on the elections and the effects on St. Pölten, visit www.noen.at .
