20 years of New Design University: a milestone for St. Pölten and the economy
On Friday, there was an important celebration in St. Pölten, where New Design University (NDU) celebrated its 20th anniversary. Various guests, including students, teachers and representatives from business and politics, gathered to experience this festive occasion. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner was the prominent speaker and emphasized the outstanding role of the NDU in the university landscape.
The Governor described the NDU as a "lighthouse project" and emphasized the important interface between academic training and the economy. Here not only knowledge is conveyed, but also promoted innovations that are essential for economic growth. "Knowledge and know-how are transferred to the economy," said Mikl-Leitner and pointed out the significant investments in science and research that are necessary to master future challenges.
importance of the NDU
The NDU plays a central role in the so -called science axis of Lower Austria. Mikl-Leitner shared her view that the university had to exist not only in regional, but also in an international context, especially in competition with large powers. Overall, the investments in science and research on the part of the state of Lower Austria are estimated at around 120 million euros. Another important aspect was the support of projects such as the "Design Network Lower Austria" to network companies efficiently.
Wolfgang Ecker, President of the Lower Austria Chamber of Commerce, also recognized the NDU as a pioneer in the non -state university area and emphasized the importance of solid education for economic development. The NDU not only trains specialists, but is also crucial for the future of the region and the country. This training includes the entire educational chain and ensure that the new employees have current knowledge.
Rector Herbert Grüner expressed his pride in the over 2600 students of the past two decades and focused on the future orientation of the university. The NDU plans to further develop its study programs and at the same time strengthen the individual care of the students. This is done through personal cooperation in creative workshops and laboratories, which makes training even more practical.
The celebrations also included contributions from various speakers, including St. Pölten Vice Mayor Harald Ludwig. Pianist Bonaventura Amann was accompanied musically, which contributed to the festive atmosphere. The NDU thus remains a formative element of the educational landscape in Lower Austria, and the perspectives for the next twenty years seem to be promising.
