SP-Hergovich: „No to € 400,000 luxury positions for Landbauer’s friends“
The press release highlights the creation of three new board positions by Minister Udo Landbauer, valued at a minimum of €400,000 per year. These positions include two in the NÖVOG (Lower Austrian Public Transport Company) and one in the Niederösterreich Bahnen (Lower Austrian Railways), both of which previously operated without managing directors. Sven Hergovich, the control state councilor, is appalled at the blatant redistribution of taxpayer money and refers to Landbauer as a „Minister for distributing favors to friends.“ Hergovich also demands the cancellation of these unnecessary board positions and calls for the funds to be invested in public transportation.
In addition to the excessive salaries for FPÖ (Freedom Party of Austria) managers at the NÖVOG and the Niederösterreich Bahnen, Hergovich points out that several FPÖ members also receive substantial meeting allowances in the supervisory board. Meanwhile, commuters struggle to find a seat on trains that are consistently delayed. The exact salaries of the new board members will be requested through a parliamentary inquiry by the SPÖ (Social Democratic Party of Austria).
To provide some context, it is essential to mention historical facts or information about the local impact. In this case, we could discuss the significance of public transportation in Lower Austria and how it has evolved over the years. Additionally, sharing statistical data on the number of commuters and the current state of the public transportation system could help to emphasize the importance of this issue.
Table: Comparison of Salaries
Position | Previous Salary | New Salary
NÖVOG GF | – | €400,000+
NÖVOG Technical Director | – | €400,000+
Niederösterreich Bahnen GF | – | €400,000+
In conclusion, the SPÖ criticizes the allocation of taxpayer money to these luxury positions and calls for the funds to be used for improving public transportation. The issue of favoritism and misallocation of funds is an ongoing concern, not only in Lower Austria but also across the country. The SPÖ’s request for transparency regarding the salaries of the new board members is a step towards holding public officials accountable for their actions.
