Invoice for dog food? Neunkirchner successfully defends himself against debt collection!

A strange incident from Neunkirchen causes a stir after a man was confronted with an unexpected calculation: 400 euros for dog food! But the highlight of it: the person concerned did not hold a dog and therefore had not ordered anything. Last week, the man was surprised that a request for payment from a well-known online trading platform fluttered into the email inbox. He ignored the claim confused and then had a debt collection agency on the heels that replaced him to collect the alleged sum, as the Lower Austria Chamber of Labor reports.

On the basis of this unauthorized claim, the man turned to the Consumer advice of the Chamber of Labor . This jumped in and immediately contacted the debt collection agency and the online retailer. Result? The demand turned out to be a mistake. "It was crucial that the person concerned turned on the AK early. This enabled us to intervene quickly and clarify that the claim is unfounded," said Sandra Nowak, head of AK consumer advice. Thanks to this prompt support, the man could not only prevent financial anger, but also unnecessary costs.

Legal support for unauthorized claims

The Situation throws a light on the problem of incorrect debt collection. The AK Lower Austria emphasizes: "It can happen that consumers: inside receive unauthorized claims. In such cases we offer comprehensive support." Markus Wieser, President of the AK Lower Austria, summed it up: Through timely contact, those affected can act in good time and defend themselves against unjustified claims. The AK also gives tips on how best to proceed in the case of collection letters so as not to fall into the trap of fraudsters.
