Kleist and Feminism: A look at Metoo history in the theater
What Happens When Powerful Men Try to Shield Their Misdeed? In his work "The Brochne Krug", Heinrich von Kleist draws a fascinating picture of it. In this strange tragedy from 1808, the plot takes place in a small Dutch village, where village judge Adam is worried about his own head in an absurd legal proceedings. The focus is on a single mother, Ms. Marthe Rull, who demands justice for a broken jug that was mysterious in the room of her daughter at night. With irony and linguistic jokes, this story brings the absurdity of power games and corruption to light.
director Pia Richter has now taken on the classic and takes him to the stage of the Saarland State Theater with a fresh, feminist approach. The play, which is considered an "early me-too story", is performed in the old fire station with an atmospheric equipment by Julia Nussbaumer and the music of Maria Moling. The premiere will take place on November 9th, and tickets are already available for the performances. The staging promises to be both exciting and thoughtful.
premiere: "From fish and women"
Another piece that exists the fire sample in the State Theater is "from fish and women". This premiere tells of two women who get into a conversation while fishing and entrust themselves to special secrets. The supposedly harmless drama is interrupted by humorous and absurd insoles, which leads to a deep insight into cross -gender topics. The premiere will take place on November 8th, followed by further appointments until January next year.
The Festival Primeurs will bring the Francophone Contemporary Drama to Saarbrücken from November 20th to 23rd. Six new pieces are presented for the first time, and the audience can look forward to different formats, including scenic readings and live radio plays. The Saarland State Theater also has musical highlights in addition to the dramatic performances. The 1st church concert will take place on November 10th, with works by Bach and Mozart, while the ballet "Romeo and Julia" is performed shortly afterwards and inspired both spectators and critics.
The cultural offers of the theater are versatile, and the Saarbrücken location is becoming more and more a hub for high -quality stage art. There are also special subscriptions and offers to discover for Christmas fans that are available from the State Theater in the run -up to Christmas.
