ADAC opens the new RadService station in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid

In Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, a new cycling service station of the ADAC North Rhine was recently opened, which offers cyclists valuable support. At the Bike & Ride system on Antoniusplatz there is a 1.50 meter high repair column, equipped with high-quality tools for different spare parts. This station is not only intended for bicycles; Strollers, skateboards and wheelchairs can also be repaired here. It is particularly noteworthy that the station is accessible around the clock regardless of an ADAC membership.

Walter Hornung, the sports director of the ADAC North Rhine, emphasized how important such facilities are in times of increasing use of cyclists. "The more you use the two -wheeler, the higher the risk of a breakdown," he said. With these bike service stations, the ADAC would like to create a freely accessible infrastructure that is at the side of cyclists with their vehicle with urgent problems.

technical details and use

The repair station is equipped with a foot air pump to check the tire pressure and a mouth key set to tighten loose parts. In the event that a repair on site is not possible, ADAC members can also use the bicycle breakdown aid, which has been part of all membership since June 2022. This ensures that those affected receive quick help even with more difficult problems.

"We are very grateful that we as a community can benefit from the ADAC Radservice station," said Nicole Berka, the mayor of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid. She mentions that the location on Antoniusplatz is particularly well chosen because it optimally complements the existing infrastructure with the central bus parking lot and the e-bike station.

The ADAC North Rhine is planning to set up a total of 28 bike service stations on high-frequented bike paths or special leisure locations. These stations are manufactured at Caritas Betriebs- und Werkstätten GmbH in Eschweiler and equipped with tools from Bike-Components from Würselen. In addition to Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, there are already bike service stations in 13 other federal states, and there are new regions.

In addition to the new station, the ADAC North Rhine also uses a mobile two-wheeler test station that has been in the Rhineland since 2022. Technicians check bicycles, pedelecs and e-bikes for safety and functionality here. These mobile test stations are regularly at universities, schools and other public locations and will soon also become active in the eastern Ruhr area and on the Lower Rhine.

For a comprehensive overview of the existing bike service stations in Germany, the ADAC has set up a special website. Further information, including access to photos and audio material for editorial purposes, is also available. For the latest bike service station in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, this could be a significant step towards an improved bicycle infrastructure in order to meet the needs of the increasingly cycling population.
