New Year's message: Lower Austria is optimistic about the future!

On the last day of 2024, Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner looks back on a year full of crises and challenges in her traditional New Year's speech. "A year of global wars, crises and disasters is behind us," she recalled, spoke of the devastating flood disaster that had affected Lower Austria. Despite these obstacles, it was possible to pass through cohesion and solidarity. "Together we are working on making Lower Austria an even better one for our children," she emphasized. In the new year, the focus is to be on a positive future in which prosperity is secured and investments in health care and the state administration are made.

Cultural year 2025: Creative impulses for Lower Austria

The year 2025 is a very special one for the federal state: it is proclaimed as a cultural year! Johanna Mikl-Leitner describes that with a diverse program from traditional art to innovative performances, cultural life is revived. As part of the “Remembering for the Future in Lower Austria” Initiative, central historical milestones are to be reflected and merged in a visionary perspective. Exciting programs in museums, exhibitions and digital formats should also be offered so that history remains alive and can be experienced for future generations. The highlights include the exhibition "Susan Rothenberg" in the Kunsthalle Krems, which will open on April 4, 2025.

Another exciting point is the large theater festival in Lower Austria, which makes the region a stage, with 22 productions in the areas of operations and acting. Starting on June 5, 2025, classic works such as "La Traviata" and other top -class performances will be included. In addition, the audience expects an exciting summer night city festival that will take place in June, and a festival house program that ranges from dance and music to innovative performances. All of this underlines Mikl-Leitner's statement that Lower Austria is one of the most dynamic cultural regions of Europe, as can be read on noe.gv.at
