Mole Melk opened: A festival of joy and regional cooperation!
Melk, Österreich - The city of Melk has made a significant progress: the mole Melk was ceremoniously opened. Mayor Patrick Strobl, who welcomed numerous guests of honor such as Abbot Georg and the deputy Silke Dammerer, highlighted the milestone. The opening was the result of the developments that started in July 2021 with the acquisition of the Jennsch family. The municipal council unanimously decided to advance the redesign of this special location, such as meinbzirk.at reported.
The work on the mole also included the reopening of the associated campsite and the modernization of the port infrastructure during the pandemic. Regional companies played a significant role, and over 120 jobs were created by working with local companies, such as the architecture firm HBA. The experienced partner Patrick Stützner was responsible for the gastronomic design of the new restaurant, whose culinary offering aims to inspire both locals and day guests. The construction that combines sustainable approaches with modern architecture includes planted flat roofs and environmentally conscious materials.
promising future and further steps
The completion of the outdoor facilities, the ticketing office and the camping shop is planned for the end of 2024. Future phases will include the modernization of the campsite, including new sanitary facilities. Mayor Strobl emphasized: "A place to celebrate for young and old should be created here." In order to symbolize this cohesion, Strobl tied a seafaring node with a ship congestion together with supporters. The guests were then invited to culinary delights before the celebrations went into nightlife at an after-party to DJ sounds, as melk.gv.at mentioned.
