Pammesberger celebrates 60 years with bluntly caricature art in Krems!

Krems, Österreich - On February 22, 2025, the exhibition "Planet Pammesberger" was opened in the Krems caricature museum, which was launched on the occasion of the 60th birthday of the renowned caricaturist Michael Pammesberger. This exhibition, which will be shown by February 1, 2026, shows a wide -ranging selection of its artistic work, which extends over three decades. Pammesberger has been active for Austrian daily newspapers since 1992, and has been drawn for the "Kurier" since 1997 and is considered one of the most important political cartoonists in the country. At the opening in the Kunsthalle, which had to be laid due to the high number of visitors, numerous prominent guests were present, including the governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and the former governor Erwin Pröll.

The curators, Gottfried Gusenbauer and Anna Steinmair, praised the exhibition as "caricature in their most beautiful form" and emphasized that Pammesberger's drawings are not only satire, but also a mirror of social reality. In addition to political events, he also addresses social challenges such as education, climate and media. "His drawings are more than satire - they are a mirror of our time," said Gusenbauer. Mikl-Leitner also paid tribute to the artist's concise character language and compared his work with an espresso: "Short, strong and sometimes bitter."

signing lesson and other highlights

In the middle of the festive opening ceremony, there were additional attractions: A signing lesson with Michael Pammesberger took place in the museum foyer, which attracted many fans and art lovers. The exhibition not only offers an overview of Pammesberger's early works, but also through its current cartoons, which always comment on the social and political agendas with a sharp joke and precise strain. These events were musically framed by dialect songs by the musician Hannes Duscher, which made the celebrations all the more alive.
