New Südtirolerplatz: Attractive connection between the old town and art mile

The city of Krems is moving into the future with big steps. On October 9, the construction work for the redesign of the South Tyrolean court began, which should be completed in about five weeks. The city administration has decided to make this central point between the old town and the art mile more attractive and, above all, barrier -free. A goal that should not only increase the quality of life, but also improve the flow of traffic without affecting the existing traffic situation.

The focus is particularly on the mobility offers that will be placed more centrally in the future. Among other things, this includes new bike parking systems and a direct pedestrian connection to the historic Steiner Tor. A drinking fountain should also breathe new life into the square and ensure refreshment. A ramp also ensures that the adjacent Café Ulrich and the medical supply store are easily accessible to people with restricted mobility.

modernization of traffic management

Mayor Peter Molnar expressed itself optimistically about the project: "With the start of the construction work, we are significantly closer to our goal of making the connection between the old town and the art mile more attractive. In the future, the Südtirolerplatz will become a central node, which increases traffic safety and ensures more residence quality." This redesign will not only upgrade the space, but also create an inviting ambience for both residents and visitors.

Mobility City Councilor Alexandra Ambrosch also emphasizes the importance of this project. She explained: "The defusing of the intersection and the improved mobility offers will also upgrade the South Tyroleans as the starting point for our guests. We create a pleasant and barrier -free environment here." This shows that when planning, not only the traffic issues are taken into account, but also the well -being of the citizens is in the foreground.

The construction work focuses exclusively on the edge of the road, which means that no significant traffic restrictions can be expected. The city has planned a total budget of around 117,000 euros for the improvements. It is expected that South Tyroleans will receive its new charisma in mid -November, which once again increases the anticipation of the Krems citizens. This initiative is another step in the direction of a modern, life -friendly city that wants to meet the needs of all road users.
