50 years of town twinning: a festival of friendship between Passau and Krems
The cities of Passau and Krems celebrated their 50th anniversary of the partnership last weekend. This anniversary was celebrated with festive events in both Passau and Krems. The celebrations included art projects by young people and were framed by visits to significant areas such as the Göttweig Monastery and the "Long Night of Museums".
Mayor Jürgen Dupper praised the long -term connection between the two cities. His words emphasized the historical roots of friendship, which are closely linked: "There have been deep relationships between our Danube cities for over a thousand years, which are shaped by history, culture and economy," he said. The entire festival weekend should further deepen the bonds. Dupper remembered the positive impressions that the Passau delegation had won during her visit.festivities and delegation excursion
The start of the celebrations took place in the Jugendzentrum Zeughaus, where a seven -member group of young Passauer presented their experiences from the exchange project "Krems meets Passau, Passau meets Krems". Mayor Peter Molnar von Krems and the city council visited Passau on this occasion. A festive reception later followed in the large town hall, where visitors entered the golden book of the city.
After the festivities in Passau reached its climax, the delegation made its way to Krems on Saturday. One of the first stations was the Benedictine Abbey Göttweig, an important spiritual center and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dupper presented the abbot a gift that is supposed to symbolize the connection between the cities.
The culmination of the celebrations was the ceremony on Sunday in the town hall of Stein, where the partnership certificate was presented again. Kremser young people showed pictures of their visit to Passau, and Mayor Dupper was honored with a badge of honor for his commitment. A final concert by the Welkskapelle Voestalpine Krems was a solemn end and again confirmed the friendship between Passau and Krems, which has now already existed for half a century.
