SVP presents Hansueli Reutegger as a new landlord candidate
in Heiden, where the general meeting of the SVP took place, an important step was taken out for the political future of the canton. The meeting, which took place on Wednesday evening in the Hotel Linde, led to a unanimous nomination of Hansueli Rekegger as a candidate for landlords. This happened in the context of the upcoming replacement elections on February 9, 2025, where Reutegger would like to succeed Yves Noël Balmer.
Hansueli Reutegger, who is currently finance director of the canton, is optimistic about his suitability for the office: "I am ready for the office and bring the necessary prerequisites," emphasized the 57-year-old. During his tenure, various major challenges will come to him, for example the presentation of a savings program and the future securing of the Herisau hospital, which is affected by changes within the hospital landscape.
candidacies and changes in the government
Reutegger is currently the only SVP member in the five-member government. However, this could change soon, since the successor to government councilor Alfred Stricker is also available on February 9, 2025. The SVP President Anick Volger indicated that the party could examine further candidates in the near future. "We could imagine presenting a candidacy," said Volger and promised that this would be discussed intensively internally.
In addition, a replacement for Walter Kobler is chosen on the same date, who has announced his resignation as a full -person senior court president. Daniel Hofmann, a 46-year-old lawyer who is currently working as a senior court clerk and lives in Horn, applied for the position. In the event of a choice, he would move to out.
Usually such nominations run smoothly. In this case, however, there were some controversy, especially when the Urnäscher SVP cantonal councilor Jörg Schmid questioned the candidate's sexual orientation. This consideration was rejected by other party members as inappropriate. Ultimately, Hofmann received the support of the party with just a few votes against. Manuel Hüsser, the current Vice President of the Higher Court, is applying for the successor of Kobler.
slogans for the federal votes
The members of the SVP also took slogans for the upcoming federal votes on November 24th. A clear yes to the expansion step in 2023 for the national roads was decided, which among other things affects the third tube through the Rosenberg in St. Gallen and the feeder to the freight station. SVP cantonal council Max Slongo presented the arguments for this expansion and the party followed his analysis.
In addition, the SVP also spoke out for uniform financing in outpatient and inpatient medical services. There were no resistances regarding the two changes in tenancy law that deal with bonuses.
Overall, these developments within the SVP show an active and committed non -party life that focuses on both the upcoming election and on important state issues. Further details and discussions are expected in the course of the next few weeks because the party is preparing for the upcoming elections and votes.
