Large explosion in wood-heating power plant: Horn-Bad Meinberg fire brigade in action

Horn-Bad Meinberg -The Horn-Bad Meinberg fire department was alerted on Wednesday morning at 7:59 a.m. The alarm came with the reference to "Fire 2-Unclar Rauch Development" in a wood-heating plant that is located in the region. When the emergency services arrived, there was already a considerable smoke development in the machine hall. Eyewitnesses reported a massive explosion that occurred both in the warehouse and in neighboring silos. Fortunately, there were no more people in the hall at this point.

In the warehouse, wood dust and wood waste are used to convert these materials into usable general cargo. Since the situation on site seemed extremely critical, the alarm level was immediately increased to "Feuer 3-explosion in industrial operation". This caused additional breathing apparatus wearers to be pulled quickly in order to have the situation better under control.

operational measures and progress

The emergency services first focused on the silos to ensure that the explosion caused no danger. Her first examination confirmed that there were no embers in this area. The firefighters then began to fight the fire and in the area of the hacker. However, the search for embers was made as complex and time -consuming. The conveyor snail to the silos had to be partially exposed from the surrounding area in order to be able to continue effectively with the deletion measure.

Around noon, the fire brigade began to replace the first emergency services from the operation. At around 1:00 p.m., the message "fire out" could finally be given, and the measures were gradually withdrawn. In order to continue to ensure the security on site, the operator of the wood heating unit had set up a security guard.

Those responsible for the fire brigade handed over the site to the police and the operator of the company. While the examinations for the cause of the fire are still underway, it has so far been found that no people were violated in this incident. Details on the cause and the exact extent of damage have not yet been known, and the police have already started the surveys to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
