Cyber protection for Horn: Information about the coffee

The threat of cybercrime has increased significantly in recent years and is still one of the fastest growing areas in law enforcement. This alarming development also attracts attention to local authorities that actively take countermeasures.

in Horn, Lower Austria, a significant prevention project was launched, which bears the name "Safe with our police". This is an initiative of the country to promote the conversation between the police and the population. Currently there are meetings in the Sparkasse Horn, where citizens have the opportunity to talk to the local police officers in a relaxed atmosphere about security issues.

Enlightenment and prevention

An outstanding element of this project is the collaboration with the students of the cyber-hak horn. Together with the Horn district command, they created an information folder that informs citizens about how they can protect themselves against fraudsters and false police officers. These fraudsters often contact unsuspecting citizens by phone and pretend to need money in urgent cases, for example for deposits. "Our folder contains valuable information that helps to differentiate between false civil servants," explains Daniela Postl, the class board is and is proud of this commitment of your students.

Another practical element of the initiative is the distribution of protective covers for ATM cards that protect against unauthorized access. These security measures are part of a broader strategy to raise awareness of cyber security. The folder are interpreted in medical practices, municipal offices and police stations in the whole district in order to achieve as many citizens as possible.

The role of experts in the field of cyber security is becoming increasingly important. Through the newly founded focus hook for security management and cyber security at BHAK/BHAS Horn, training is intended to offer future experts who are able to protect companies and organizations from the dangers of the digital world.

talks with the police

Another interesting aspect of the project is the “Coffee With Cops” series of events, in which citizens have the opportunity to speak directly to the officials, to ask questions and to express their concerns. This is intended to strengthen trust between citizens and the police. Regardless of whether someone needs specific security tips or just want to talk, these meetings offer an important platform to reduce barriers and to promote the feeling of security in the community.

For those interested, there is also the opportunity to report to the cyber-hak for the school year 2025/26. A broad knowledge is conveyed in a growing and important field, which is of great value not only for the students, but also for the community.
