New life in the Hollabrunner City Museum: Kustodin is committed to schools
The Hollabrunner city museum is under fresh wind with the new curator Patrizia Mantler-Stockinger, who took over the management in spring. Her goal is clear: more people should visit the old court mill, the oldest building in the district capital. "The city museum is to be anchored in the mind," said Mantler-Stockinger in a recent press interview in which it presented her new program.
In addition, she plans to expand the museum team because the current board, according to Gerhard Hasenhündl, deputy chairman of the museum association, is "leakage models". "We are happy about everyone who wants to help," says Mantler-Stockinger and invites interested parties to contribute to the museum, be it through museum services or other support offers.
Cooperation with schools for promoting local history
Currently, Mantler-Stockinger is in training as a museum custody, while at the same time working out the depot and learning the museum closer. Their vision includes a stronger external impact of the city museum, especially through cooperation with schools. An exhibition with the artist Ernst Exinger is already planned, in which the 4B class of the Hollabrunner middle school is involved in an environmental project. "The topic comes from the students," said City Councilor Elisabeth Schüttengruber-Holly.
This cooperation is rounded off by a number of events. For example, Mantler-Stockinger with elementary school children conducts city tours to twelve historical places. These excursions should help the children find access to the Hollabrunner history.
A permanent exhibition, the "The Wild East", can already be seen in the museum, while there are other ideas for special exhibitions. The first special exhibition, which is planned in May 2024, is entitled "Hollabrunn once and now" and wants to work directly into the city.
Cultural City Councilor Schüttengruber-Holly is pleased with the new Vustodin: "You can feel that you are burning for this topic." An important prerequisite for the success of the museum is in the cooperation with the Lower Austrian Card, which should attract many visitors.
