Hollabrunn and Weinviertel: Pioneer in climate protection excellent

In Stockerau, a festive regulars' table recently took place, in which several municipalities from the Weinviertel were awarded for their long -term membership in the climate alliance. Hollabrunn and its partner communities are recognized as role models in the implementation of sustainable projects. According to the managing director of the Lower Austria climate alliance, Petra Schön, this award is an excellent way to encourage and inspire other communities.

Mayor Alfred Babinsky von Hollabrunn was pleased with the achievements of the community since joining the climate alliance in 1999. "We have made enormous progress, especially in energy efficiency and the use of regional renewable energies. Last year the foundation of our energy cooperative was an important milestone," he said.

These include, for example, the expansion of an everyday cycle path network that runs through the entire location, innovative construction projects such as the school campus and new kindergartens as well as numerous tree planting campaigns.

Another important project is the switch to energy -efficient road lighting and the extensive installation of photovoltaic systems. "The foundation of the Hollabrunn energy community helped us enormously to drive our goals in the field of renewable energies," said Babinsky.

The city has already ambitious plans for the coming years. A renaturation and flood protection project in Asperdersdorf is already ready, and the installation of a first photovoltaic system is also due.

Together with Hollabrunn, the municipalities of Ziersdorf, Retzbach and Seefeld-Kadolz also celebrate their 25th anniversary in the climate alliance.
