Community use saves Sonnendach after severe water damage

After devastating water damage, the "sun roof" in Hollabrunn has made great progress in order to repair the affected areas again. The commercial director, Sonja Dürnsteiner, reported that between Friday and Monday, 537 hours were carried out by volunteers and firefighters to remedy the damage. As part of these extensive work, 32 cubic meters of bulky waste were also disposed of, which resulted in a significantly less burden on the people concerned.

Although the helpers showed impressive use, the damage to property remains significant. In particular, the ground floor suffers from the consequences of the water. "The dehumidification devices continue to run and the floor had to be removed. The power supply and the heating system in the basement also have become unusable in the basement," said Dürnsteiner. These massive damage required targeted measures to restore the functionality of the building.

important renovations

A crucial step to improve accessibility was to install a new elevator. Thanks to the generous support of courier readers of around 41,000 euros, it was ordered in September. This measure not only makes access to other floors easier, but also ensures that the living rooms remain barrier -free.

The complete failure of important facilities was problematic, but a plan could quickly be developed to move the recovered electricity, heating and internet connections to the upper floors. This was an important safety precaution to avoid future damage through possible further water infiltrations. "We wanted to get everything that works somehow," said Dürnsteiner.

After a short two -week break, the day care center could be quickly put back into operation. The everyday life of the 37 clients should return as quickly as possible. "It was particularly challenging for the clients that the familiar and personal things were lost," said Dürnsteiner, who is, however, optimistic. Despite the adversity, the team of the "sunroof" offered those affected a certain regularity and security - a service that was only possible through the strong cohesion of everyone involved.

The "sun roof" plans to open its doors to visitors on December 8th. From 2 p.m. everyone is invited to support and visit the team and the now restored premises in Aumühlgasse. The event offers an excellent opportunity to find out about the current situation and progress according to the considerable damage.
