Falcons are subject to Hollabrunn 28:30 in a gripping derby

In a gripping handball game on Saturday, the St. Pöltner Falken in Hollabrunn suffered their first defeat of the season. While the hosts celebrated their third victory in a row, the beginning for the falcons was anything but ideal. Already in the first few minutes they missed some chances, including a seven meter awarded, and were quickly 0: 6 behind.

With a lot of fighting spirit, however, the falcons found back into play. After a good 15 minutes, they were able to shorten the gap to two goals and ensured exciting moments. But despite several approaches, the equalization was denied. There was also excitement shortly before half -time when both a player from Hollabrunn and Falkens coach Damir Djukic were put off the pitch with a red card. The halftime score of 16:12 for the home side reflected the intensive, but also heated clashes.

exciting second half

The second half was similar, the Hollabrunner could claim their lead from several goals. But the falcons did not give up, even without their injured playmaker Jojo Kral, they showed a combative performance. Particularly noteworthy is Matthias Bruckner, who became the best thrower of the game with ten goals and repeatedly brought the falcons to a goal. Despite several occasions, the balance could not be achieved. In the final minute, the falcons had the chance again at a stand of 28:29, but the Hollabrunner made the sack with their goal for 30:28.

For the falcons, several away games are now on the program, since the home venue is not available due to repairs. Next Saturday you will meet Koppensteiner Wat Fünfhaus, followed by a game against Atzgersdorf. You can only play against the SU Leoben on October 19 in the Prandtauerhalle.
