Eventful hikes in the Thayatal National Park in October
October is all about hiking in the Thayatal National Park and offers numerous events for nature lovers and families. On various Sundays this month, interested parties can discover the extraordinary landscape and the hidden treasures of the park.
The start is a hike of around six hours on Sunday, October 6th, which starts at 9 a.m. on the main square in Hardegg. The tour leads to the calm zone in the west of the national park, known for its impressive nature and silence. Here the participants have the opportunity to experience the variety of flora and fauna up close.

A week later, on October 13, hiking enthusiasts can get to know the "unknown Czech Republic". From the parking lot of the Hotel Vinice Hnanice it goes along the Thaya in a five -hour tour. The hike leads through the historic ensemble from Neunmühlen to the picturesque viewpoint at the Sealenfield-Stein. Here too the tour begins at 9 a.m.
On October 20, “The magic of the track reading” is on the program. Families are particularly invited here to decrypt the traces of nature under the guidance of a ranger and wilderness teacher. The meeting point is at 10 a.m. in the Kaja ruin. The three -hour hike makes the participants into small detectives by learning to recognize traces, remnants of feeding and other clues.
Another highlight is the National Parker Knagerag on October 26, which falls on a Saturday this year. This day includes various routes along the Thaya and leads from the National Park House to the Einsiedlerwiese before going back to the starting point via the wildcat hiking trail. The start is at 10 a.m., the hike takes about four hours.
The month of the month on Halloween, on October 31, is celebrated with a "light hike by old walls". From 3:30 p.m., visitors are invited to explore the Kaja ruin and tinker with colorful lanterns. As soon as the darkness breaks, the forest around the castle is magically illuminated. There are also children's punch, cookies and stories around the campfire for the small participants.
