Bird flu in Gmünd: No new cases - health authority calms down!

Gmünd, Österreich - In the Gmünd district, there was recently all -clear regarding bird flu. As district captain Christian Pehofer reported, the investigations by two dead swans found in the region had not proven a virus. One swan was recovered from the lain seat, the other came from the Eberweis in the municipality of Heidenreichstein. "The laboratory result was negative in both cases," explains Pehofer. This brings an initial reassurance into an already tense situation, since Austria was shown as an area with increased risk of bird flu at the beginning of November. Since then, 47 outbreaks have been registered in land, whereby no new suspected cases were reported in the Gmünd district, as the state veterinary director Christina Riedl informed ORF Lower Austria.
