Open house night: creative insights into the graphic design in Schwäbisch Gmünd!
The darkness brought life to the vocational college for graphic design in Schwäbisch Gmünd on Saturday evening. At the eighth night of the open house, numerous visitors flocked into buildings 6 of the Gmünder Unipark. There the currently 59 students proudly presented their interactive exhibition. For the first time, interested guests, including parents and alumni, were able to design their own last-minute Christmas cards or have the creative students support themselves. A very special Highlight was the large domino course, which was created with over 5000 handmade wooden stones from another classroom, such as Rems Zeitung reported.
diverse training and international perspectives
The exhibition also provided insights into the focus of the training, ranging from free drawing to photography to digital forms of design. Headmaster Christoph Preuschoff emphasized that in the first year of training, the focus is on the design basics. From the second year, digital elements such as app and web design are added. Through comprehensive training, the students should learn to visually implement complex content in an understandable way, an approach that also comes into play in projects on the subject of right -wing extremism.
In addition, the pupils are equipped with economic knowledge by working in exercise companies with integrated company software and playing through stock market games in profile financial management. International aspects are also included in the training: Foreign languages such as English and Spanish are part of the curriculum, and in economic lessons are partly taught in English. In this way, the students were optimally prepared for the requirements in the modern professional world. At the moment there are still places available for the school year 2025/26, which is still very important in training in this creative and versatile specialization, as also found by KS-GD
