The controversy around the planned S8 Marchfeldschnellstraße is peaked out. The environmental organization Virus has pointed out that the last court ruling from December 2024 reveals the political inability in Lower Austria and the Gänserndorf district. According to virus is the idea that the S8 reality is no more as a fig leaf to fool the voter. Spokesman Wolfgang Rehm said that despite the promises of those responsible, the realization of the expressway seems to be increasingly unrealistic due to court decisions and inadequate planning. The resistance was obviously worth it, since despite intensive lobbying efforts, the court has now failed the necessary permits. Wolfgang Rehm asked the state government to finally detach itself from outdated projects and to actively promote the development in the region instead of capturing them in the past.
