Increasing traffic safety: New traffic lights defuse the danger point in front of school

in Enzersdorf an der Fischa, traffic safety for pedestrians was significantly improved by the construction of a new traffic light system. The traffic light was installed directly in front of the elementary school on Schlossstrasse, along the L2053 state road. The traffic authority had found the need for a traffic light system for the pedestrian crossing via Schlossgasse.

The new traffic light works according to a traffic -dependent program. The basic phase of the traffic lights continuously indicates green traffic on Schlossgasse. Only when pedestrians operate the push button gets your side of the traffic lights. In the event of strong traffic, the green phase for vehicle traffic can be extended by up to 15 seconds.

The Bruck road maintenance department An der Leitha worked together with construction and delivery companies from the region on the road construction measures. The traffic light system was built by Swarco Traffic Austria GmbH from Perchtoldsdorf. The construction period was about ten weeks.

The costs for the traffic light system amounted to around 50,000 euros, which were completely borne by the state of Lower Austria. The costs for the road construction measures of around 20,000 euros were shared by the state of Lower Austria and the market town of Enzersdorf on Fischa.
