Truck knowledge in class: Security and career prospects for young people

In Tulln, a training workshop for students from the sports agent school offered the opportunity to learn more about the importance of trucks in our everyday life. The event was carried out in cooperation with Gnant GmbH from Wimmersdorf and is part of a broad initiative that aims to impart knowledge about traffic safety and the versatile professions in transportation. In fact, nine of ten foods are transported by truck, a fact that many young people do not know.

During the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to explore a real truck. This included the practical experience in the cab, where they could explore the "dead corner" - areas that are difficult to see for the driver, which increases the risk to pedestrians: inside and cyclists: Inside. Driver Herbert Gsell from Gnant GmbH explained to the pupil: patiently on the inside the technical features of the truck and the associated challenges for safety in road traffic.

traffic safety and environmental awareness

The workshop manager Cathérine Hülmbauer was important to bring the pupils closer to some central issues such as the environmental compatibility of truck and the economic aspects of transport. She emphasized that our modern life would be severely impaired without traffic through trucks, since the train, for example, does not lead to every supermarket. A particularly interesting point was the idea that in addition to classic teaching as a professional driver: also a combined training that combines car mechanics with the profession of driver.

"It is extremely important to us to promote safety in road traffic for children and adolescents," said Markus Fischer, specialist group chairman of the Lower Austrian goods transport industry in the Lower Austria Chamber of Commerce. This statement underlines the relevance of the workshops and the associated information about traffic safety.

At the end of the workshop, the Tulln sports agent school received a certificate that characterizes it as "especially for the traffic safety of the students: institution in the inside". This recognition illustrates the school's commitment to actively promote the security of its students: actively promoted inside.
