Strong sign in Amstetten: Women fight violence!

in Amstetten, from November 25th to December 10th, a strong sign of existing violence of women and children will be set with the "16 days against violence". During a rally on November 28, to which political representatives such as Mayor Christian Haberhauer and State Councilor Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig, numerous women's organizations demanded more awareness of this problem. Mayor Haberhauer summed it up: "We have to discuss and look at the issue of violence in the private sector". It is a direct request not to close the eyes and to stand up for the concerns of those affected to develop creative suggestions for improvement.

The speakers put a special focus on improving support offers. The State Councilor emphasizes: "We have to get violence from privacy and encourage women to seek help." This is all the more urgent than the numbers are alarming: In the Amstetten district, there were 172 bans this year, 33 more than in the previous year. These statistics illustrate the acute need for action to free women from violence and enable them to live independently. A central element is the provision of well -equipped advice centers and women's shelters, as well as the Frauenhelpline on 0800 222 555, which offers anonymous support.

Need for structural changes

The initiative also includes structured measures to resolve violence against women and children. "It is about showing women out of violence," said Königsberger-Ludwig and, in addition to financial support, demanded that they can also create affordable apartments and suitable childcare offers. These initiatives should not only save women, but also give them the opportunity to make their lives independently.

The autonomous women's center and many other advice centers in Austria are also an important part of this movement. These places offer support, but it is crucial that civil society actively positions itself against violence and uses the existing contacts such as the Frauenhaus Amstetten. It is a powerful call that can be found not only in the Amstetten region, but also by the values that are represented throughout Austria. A non -violent life for everyone must be possible.
