Serious accident in the forest: forest workers seriously injured at wooden harvest!
A dramatic forest accident shook the steep forest area in Waidhofen an der Ybbs on the morning of February 13, 2025 when a 52-year-old Romanian wooden worker was seriously injured in his work. The man cut a tree with a chainsaw around 8:30 a.m. when part of the tree broke off and hit it in the back and pelvic area. Immediately his colleagues started the rescue chain and alerted the emergency services, as ORF NÖ> reported.
The challenge of this human rescue was enormous, because the rough terrain required the use of the emergency helicopter Christophorus 15. Rescue workers from several volunteer fire brigades, including FF Waidhofen/YbBS -Wirts and City, as well as the Red Cross and the mountain rescue were on site to help the injured as soon as possible. After the first aid in the difficult terrain, the man was safely flown to the state clinic Amstetten, where he is treated with severe but not life -threatening injuries. Despite the circumstances, he remained appealing throughout the entire mission, such as Fireworld reported.
