Truck accident in Hofamt Priel: Wood load ends up in the orchard!
In the early morning of February 24, 2025, there was a spectacular truck accident on the B36 B36 federal road near Hofamt Priel in the Melk district. A wooden transport truck got off the road for unclear reasons and collided with the guiding rail before tipping on the side and distributed his entire load, heavy wooden trunks, in an adjacent garden. The fire brigade Weins-Shersdorf, the Samaritan Association Persenbeug and the police were immediately alerted to help with the accident coping, such as Fireworld.at reported.
The rescue of the fallen truck proved to be challenging. The fire brigade Weins-Shersdorf had to request the heavy device of the Amstetten fire brigade to recover the truck with a mountain crane. During the measures, the busy B36 was closed to traffic, which led to considerable traffic disruptions during peak times. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed and was able to free himself from the cab, which was seen as a stroke of luck in this critical situation, said commander Wolfgang Linder of the Weins-Shersdorf fire brigade. According to Kurier.at , the accident was already advanced and an release of the road.
The incident occurred near a residential building, which increased the risk of residents. Thanks to the rapid missions of the emergency services and fire brigade, worse things could be prevented, and the rescue work was quick. However, the incident raises questions about traffic safety, especially for heavy trafficists on busy roads in the Waldviertel.
