Criticism of the state clinic: patient care in danger!
In the State Clinic Amstetten, several critical areas, including emergency room, shock room and intensive care unit, have been temporarily blocked. SPÖ National Council MP Alois Schroll was outraged by the situation and called for immediate measures to improve patient care. In an interview with noe.orf.at, the medical director Gerhard Kriener explained that the locks were necessary as a result of a high patient volume and due to maintenance work. In addition, the shortage of specialist in the region is a problem, especially in the current Christmas season, which makes the situation more difficult, as the NÖN.AT reported.

Beate Hochstrasser, health councilor, called for immediately measures to ensure patient care in the state clinic in an open letter to the Governor and the Finance State Council. The bed closures in the Department of Internal Medicine are partly a reaction to reduce the workload for the staff. The state health agency assured that alternative supply qualities and capacities were created at other locations in order to continue to look after the patients adequately. During the closures, the rescue and helicopter transport is redistributed to guarantee emergency care, as was cited by noe.orf.at.
The current situation in the state clinic is a challenge for the health system, especially in the run -up to Christmas. Clinic management emphasizes that despite the challenges, adequate care of all patients can be maintained in order to avoid critical situations such as the lack of intensive care beds.
