Club & enjoy: Sankt Georgen turns fruit into fresh juice
Sankt Georgen/Ybbsfelde. In the municipality of Sankt Georgen am Ybbsfelde, the “Klapen & Enjoy” campaign campaign recently took place. This initiative invited citizens to bring their own apples and pears from the home garden to the mobile juice press to create delicious juice together. The campaign aimed to strengthen the awareness of the use of local fruit and thus reduce avoidable waste.
Participation was simple: the municipal citizens brought their fruits brought to the building yard. There the apples and pears were initially washed thoroughly before they were crushed and pressed in the mobile press. The freshly squeezed juice was then pasteurized at 80 degrees and filled into 5-liter bag-in boxes so that the participants could take it home comfortably.

Mayor Christoph Haselsteiner (ÖVP) emphasized the sustainable character of the event: "Many have apples in the garden, but most of them have no way of gaining juice from it. That is why the fruit usually remains unused." This action is intended to create a new awareness of the value of fall fruit. St. Georgner should be encouraged to fill your juice supply with a healthy regional product.
It was particularly gratifying that the school beginners of the local kindergarten were also able to observe the exciting and educational procedure. The children had the opportunity to determine different types of apple and therefore not only learned something about the juice production process, but also about the variety of fruit.
With this campaign, the municipality not only organized an entertaining event, but also made an important contribution to awareness of local products and to promote sustainability.
