Explosion in Paga: Gaspipeline breaks and harvests the all -clear!

On December 19, 2024, a dramatic incident occurred in the Amstetten district: an explosion of a national gas pipeline near Paga alerted the fire brigade and the Red Cross, which came in large numbers at 6:00 a.m. Mayor Lukas Michlmayr from the ÖVP confirmed on Facebook that there is no risk for residents. "The all -clear can be given in the rest of the city," he said. The affected state road was temporarily closed, while the emergency services evaluated the situation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Red Cross was used with six vehicles and around 20 helpers to look after seven people - four adults and three children - until they were able to return home safely in the early morning, as spokeswoman Sonja Kellner reported. The technicians of the EVN subsidiary Netz Lower Austria are currently working on site.

progress in the damage to damage

Mayor Michlmayr informed that the renovation work of the damaged high -pressure line is already in full swing. The crisis team has gathered in the security center to manage the situation and clarify the causes of the explosion. The gas high pressure line West1, which has been in operation since 1964, has run over 30 kilometers from Schmiedleiten to Oed and has only been used for local care since 1995. The incident raises questions about the security of such infrastructures and could also result in further investigations into the mechanisms of acoustic emissions and their causes. These aspects have already been dealt with by research such as that of Research-collection.ethz.hz.ch , whereby the importance of acoustic emissions in surveillance and maintenance of such systems is highlighted.
