Brutal attack in the Amstetten district: court expresses hard judgments
A process that ended with violent emotions and a shocking outcome recently took place in the Amstetten district. Six members of a criminal group were on trial after they were accused of brutally attacking the owner of a jewelry business and having committed a number of burglary thefts and fraud crime in the region.
The attack on the jeweler was just one of many offenses that denounced the St. Pölten public prosecutor in detail. During the last trial in particular, various ownership offenses were discussed that took place in the Amstetten and Melk districts. The original attack, which was generally treated in October, has now been discussed in the context of these comprehensive criminal acts.
The severe allegations
The accused have achieved tens of thousands of euros from predatory raids and thefts. For example, the perpetrators broke into a company in Pöchlarn in April 2023 and stole goods worth 15,200 euros. In December last year, they stole cash and jewelry worth around 29,000 euros from a house in Amstetten. A particularly brazen case was the leasing of a car worth 42,000 euros about fake documents, for which they did not pay the rates.
Another moving moment of the process was the unexpected statement of a 28-year-old defendant who suddenly came out as a premium, but vehemently denied that the gang leader. According to his co-accused, the 28-year-old had appeared as an organizer and often accompanied her to the crime scenes, which she did out of fear. These testimonies were confirmed by police officers, but seemed to be classified as unbelievable by the court.
judgments and desperate reactions
The judgments were hard. The alleged head of the gang received more than 14 years of prison due to its relevant criminal records. Further penalties amounted to several years, with a 27-year-old received 17 years in prison. In addition, the convicted perpetrators were sentenced to pay payments in the amount of hundreds of thousands of euros and 15,000 euros in pain and suffering for the attacked.
After the verdict, some of the accused broke up emotionally, and two of them expressed suicide announcements. This dramatic turn required an immediate intervention by judicial officers who tried to de -escalate the situation. In the meantime, the defenders insisted on the judgments for their clients, while only two defendants accepted their punishments.
The events related to this criminal case not only throw a light on the actions of the accused, but also show the deep emotional and psychological effects that such serious judgments have on those affected, both on the perpetrator and the victim.
