New elections in Vorarlberg: Wallner and Greens plan fresh course!
Dornbirn, Österreich - On May 16, 2025, the State Party Congress of the Vorarlberg People's Party (ÖVP) and the State Assembly of the Vorarlberg Greens will take place in the Kulturhaus Dornbirn. Around 400 participants expect these significant events, including 250 to 300 delegates. Among the top-class guests are Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker and EU Commissioner Magnus Brunner.
Markus Wallner is the only candidate for re -election as the state party chairman of the ÖVP. He has been running the party since 2012 and received 98.87 percent approval in the last elections in 2021. His upcoming “Vorarlberg speech” is intended to set programmatic course for the future. A central topic could be the Economic Association of Insurance Affair, which the party has recently busy. They also run their party since 2021 and at that time had an approval of 98.71 percent. The event is under the motto "fresh green". A downer in the current situation is the result of the 2024 state election, where the Greens were only able to achieve 22,926 votes (12.4 percent) and four mandates instead of the desired 30,000 votes.
The turnout in the state election was 68.1 percent, and the distribution of the valid votes shows that the Vorarlberg People's Party still received the most votes, namely 70,638 (38.3 percent), followed by the FPÖ with 51,639 votes (28.0 percent). The lost mandates provide both a challenge and the chance to new
