New Chancellor Stocker: Departure in politics - what does Austria expect?
After the resignation of Karl Nehammer (ÖVP), Alexander Schallenberg once again took over the Federal Chancellery in an interim interim. During his short term, Schallenberg also held the office of Foreign Minister, which he now handed over to Beate Meinl-Reisinger (Neos). At the handover of the office, Schallenberg expressed his best wishes to his successor, Martin Stocker when handing over. When asked by the handover, Schallenberg said that "no one could imagine that the handover would be so friendly", and praised the civil servant, which was received by "open arms", as well as Kleine Zeitung reported.
Stocker thanked for the warm words of his predecessor and emphasized his awareness of the responsibility that goes hand in hand with his new office. He promised to be there for all Austrians as Chancellor and expressed the will to address the challenges together with his team and the coalition partners. "There is a lot to do," said Stocker, who described his appointment as great honor. Further change of government are underway: Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) will hand over the ministry to the SPÖ boss Andreas Babler, and also in the Ministry of Finance and the Interior Ministry, as Sn.at can be read.
soon to marry a triple coalition
In addition to the change of government, it is indicated that Austria could experience its first triple coalition since 1945 at the beginning of next week. An important general meeting of the NEOS will take place on Sunday, where the planned government pact with the ÖVP and SPÖ needs an approval of two thirds of the members to be praised on Monday. According to reports, the coalition could take place at 11 a.m., which would represent a significant step in Austrian history, especially in times when the political situation is tense.
