New mayor in Pyhra: Günter Schaubach takes responsibility!
Pyhra, Österreich - On December 6, 2024, the former mayor of Pyhra, Werner Schmitzer, died at the age of 78 after a long illness. Schmitzer initially served the market town as an ÖVP council before led the fortunes of the community as mayor from 2003 to 2017. Under his leadership, significant projects were launched, including the construction of a new kindergarten, the Kyrnberghalle and the assisted living and the musician home of the Raiffeisen Music Association, which impressively underlines its successes, as Noen.at reported.
With Schmitzer's unexpected resignation, 45-year-old Günter Schaubach took over the office of mayor. Schaubach, who has been working in the local council since 2011 and has an IT logistics company, was optimistic about the new challenge. In an interview, he explained that resignation came as a surprise to everyone and that he already wanted to actively work on various projects such as the subsequent use of the outdoor pool area. In particular, he plans to realize a leisure site and a health center in order to meet the wishes of the population, as it is in a report by tips.at

Schaubach also includes maintaining the commitment for the community. He emphasized how important it was to involve the concerns of the citizens in project planning and thus create a feeling of community. Although he has taken over many additional tasks such as the management of the committee for finance, construction and spatial planning, Schaubach is determined to pursue both his professional and his political career with passion.
The changes in Pyhra mark a new section in the political life of the community, while the memories of Schmitzer's success remain. As the new mayor, Schaubach will face both the challenges and the opportunities that are in front of him.
